Changes and updates
As you probably noticed, it has been quite some time since my last post of any kind. Many things had impact on this, including the spread of Covid-19 around the world. Situations like this make you think about your place in the world and how should you continue working on your career and family well-being. Being locked down for almost 2 months gives you enough time to focus on creating new things and finishing some stages of life, to move forward.
I will be terminating my contract as a research assistant at UWM Olsztyn
This is something I gave a lot of thought about in the recent years. While the people I work with are great and helpful, I can’t get rid of the feeling that my progress has stagnated, while doing research - I miss projects that are customer based, not theoretical, and actually provide a day to day challenge in bring great quality products to the world. I did several contracts on the way for various companies, but maintaining two jobs becomes too hard for one to be happy.
I am grateful for one thing - working at the University gave me the opportunity to pursue my interests. As you don’t have many hours working with students, you can spend the remaining time on learning new things. For me this was a big step in transferring from Java to Python programming, while learning how to build backend services and an initial jump into Data Science. Over the years I could not only write some cool algorithms that landed in labolatory robotics, but also dig into data of several companies for analysis and try out machine learning.
I will present my termination this week (3 month period), before I am off to a new adventure.
Thanks everyone who made this an entertaining journey! You are great!
